(1) paint, varnish, lacquer, printing ink and other related coatings and materials in liquid, liquefiable, powder, or mastic form,

Keywords

Visual Surface Contaminants, Foam Tape

Rationale

For proper bonding of coatings, sealer and overlays, it is important that a prepared surface (i.e. steel, non-ferrous materials, concrete, sheetrock, etc.) be properly cleaned, inspected and recorded. This test method allows contractors, applicators and inspectors to obtain a permanent record of the surface cleanliness prior to application. This allows for evaluation/comparison of the tested foam tape to a certified visual percentages. This permanent sample may also prove useful in resolving future disputes.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
