1.1 This guide defines the design, construction, security, and contamination control recommendations of a mobile extraction unit for the extraction of cannabis/hemp biomass to cannabis/hemp extract. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
mobile; extraction
This new work item addresses the need for an industry standard that advises on security of the mobile extraction of cannabis to protect cannabis, cannabis products, cannabis waste, people, property, and assets. The mobile extraction of oil from cannabis shall be conducted with meticulous care to prevent potential security risks to people, the product, the extraction unit, and the area surrounding the unit. It shall also conform to the requirements of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure that the units specific location is available to them at any time and prevents the potential diversion of the products being extracted. This requires the identification and implementation of strategies to mitigate risk, maximize employee and public safety and ensure the secure mobile extraction and includes the extraction and delivery of all cannabis, cannabis plants, and cannabis products including extracted oil and waste biomass (subsequently defined as cannabis in any of its forms).
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
