New Test Methods for Standard Test Methods for Carbon Black Content and Ash Content of Polyolefin Geosynthetics
1. Scope
This test method covers the determination of the carbon black content and ash content in polyolefin plastics. These determinations are made gravimetrically after pyrolysis of the sample in an invert environment.

Rationale
There is currently no standard test method within ASTM committee D35 on Geosynthetics that covers carbon black content determination. A standard method is needed within the committee to address specific concerns with multi-component and specially compounded polymers.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
