New research confirms that the test results depend upon the type of screen used for this test. To improve test repeatability, for Procedure B. the report must include the screen specification. The old specification of 50% open area has been removed and the standard allows any screen design, but states that different designs may not be comparable with respect to test results. A recommended screen design (FIG. 10) utilizes a hexagonal opening screen with an added smooth surface in the sealing area that will reduce false positive results caused by rough screen material damaging the test specimen. To provide a better seal, closed-cell foam is also recommended. Also, to improve test accuracy, we specify pressure regulation to be 0.04 psi.
