New Practice for Electrofusion Joining Polyethylene (PE) Pipe and Fittings for Pressure Pipe Service

1. Scope

The development of specifications for plastic pipe, fittings, and appurtenances; practices for joining and installing plastic pipes; test methods; terminology, systems and services specific to plastic piping systems and the stimulation of related research.
The work of the Committee may include the consideration of composite piping systems, and components which are partially plastic.
The work of the Committee will be coordinated with ASTM Committee and other organizations having mutual interests.

Additional questions have been asked in regard to ASTM F1290 and the relationship of this new standard. D2657 Standard Practice for Heat Fusion Joining of Polyolefin Pipe and Fittings and F2620 Standard Practice for Heat Fusion Joining of Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings maintain a very similar relationship as F1290 and this new standard will.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
