New Guide for Selection of Assessors for Sensory Testing Right Respondents

1. Scope

1.1 Selection of assessors can have a direct effect on the outcome of any sensory or consumer test. This document includes broad principles covering the selection of assessors and general strategies for screening and recruiting assessors. The objective of this guide is to disseminate good sensory and consumer testing practices. 1.2 More specifically, this document examines the issues surrounding the appropriate selection of assessors, provides guidelines for the selection of respondents for sensory testing, the qualifications necessary to participate in different sensory tests, the benefits and limitations of selecting certain assessors. Selection of assessors can have a direct effect on the outcome of any sensory or consumer test.
