1.1 This specification applies to portable gasoline containers greater than 25 L [6.6 U.S. gal] and up to 76 L [20 U.S. gal], made from plastic and intended for the storage and transportation of petroleum fuels having a flash point lower than 37.8C [100F]. 1.2 This specification includes requirements for materials, impact and burst strengths, permeability, and other safety factors. Marking requirements are also included. 1.3 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, is any, associated with its use.
