New Specification for Interior Radiation Control Coatings (IRCC) for Building Applications

1. Scope

1.1 This specification covers the classification, composition, and physical properties of interior radiation control coatings (IRCC) for use in building applications to reduce heat transfer. The IRCC is sprayed or roller applied onto interior building surfaces and results in a far-infrared emittance of 0.25 or less. 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

Keywords

low emittance; high reflectance; spray applied

Rationale

This standard will address IRCC physical properties and provide quality control for an established product that has been in the market and already has an ASTM standard practice in place. It would be used by the IRCC manufacturers, wholesalers, and installers.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
