A Technique for High-Temperature Creep Displacement Measurement

Source

A laser-based interferometric technique was used to measure in-plane displacements on center-cracked IN100 specimens at 732°C. The displacement was measured between two indentations 100 μm apart (one on each side of an existing fatigue crack) under short-term creep loading. The very simple experimental setup is described, and some typical results are presented.
