Cobalt-Base Super-Strength Alloys

Source

The three sets of data for solution-treated and aged S816 do not agree well. The two sets for Materials 1 and 2 solution treated at 2300 F and aged at 1500 F gave substantially higher strengths than the one set for Material 3 solution treated at 2150 F and aged at 1400 F. Material 3 was also the columbium plus tantalum type. Very short time tests on hot-cold worked material indicated a substantial increase in relaxation strength at 1500 F. A number of tests on Material 3 indicated a fairly complicated relationship between initial and residual stress.
