Chromium-Nickel-Iron Super-Strength Alloys


Due to the limited data for each alloy, relaxation properties for all six alloys are presented together. A number of factors should be considered in using the data: 1. The treatments used for the test materials may or may not be the most favorable for relaxation resistance. 2. Initial stress may have influenced the results significantly, for example, in the case of Discaloy and A-286 at 1000 F. 3. In general, the initial stresses were much higher than was used in the lower alloy steels. The ability of these alloys to support such high stresses is, of course, reflected in the comparatively high relaxation strengths.
