1Cr-1Mo, 2Cr-0.5Mo, 1.75Cr-1Mo, and Modified Chromium-Molybdenum Steels

Source

Only very limited data are available for each analysis. The data suggest that the 1Cr-1Mo material was somewhat more resistant to relaxation than was the 2Cr-1Mo. One sample with 0.3Cr-0.3Mo had as high relaxation resistance as 2Cr-0.5Mo at 850 F. There is some effect of initial stress, as is usual. The general range in initial stresses was, however, relatively small and, in one case, apparently had less effect than the difference between duplicate specimens of 1Cr-1Mo steel. It should be noted that the normalized 1Cr-1Mo and 1.75Cr-1Mo steels were heat treated at unusually high temperatures.
