Introduction

Source

It is fitting, from time to time, for a group to review the progress it has made and to consider problems for the future. This was done by the authors of the four papers on different phases of turbine lubrication presented at the symposium. The authors are agreed that inhibited turbine oils have, in general, given a good account of themselves and are allowing the operation of turbines for extended periods of time with clean lubricating systems. Mr. Vivian Estcourt points out that not all inhibited oils have the same good qualities and that there is a need for better selection of inhibited turbine oils. He also makes a strong plea for the development of a laboratory test to better determine the remaining useful life of a used inhibited turbine oil.
