Stress Corrosion Test Environments and Test Durations


The most frequent environments used for stress corrosion testing of aluminum and titanium are presented. The general effects of the various environmental factors which may affect the tests are described. These include temperature, humidity, pH, etc. The data on a definite test period are presented in a quite limited form due to the scarcity of data in published papers on this subject. The results of a questionnaire which was submitted to all the members of Committee G-1 concerning their testing methods for stress corrosion testing are presented.
