The 1960 Annual References on Fatigue takes on a different format from that to which users have become accustomed during the past ten years. This format has evolved during the past three years as the Survey Subcommittee of Committee E-9 on Fatigue has worked on the mutual task of compiling 5-year bibliographies of fatigue references. The present format of the Annual References on Fatigue is such that it will be a simple task to prepare the more extensive bibliographies in later years. There are a number of sections to the Annual References on Fatigue that should provide greater utility to those interested in searching out articles concerned with specific segments of the fatigue literature. These sections include the following: List of References Subject Index Author Index Reference Titles As in the past, the List of References contains all of the fatigue references that the subcommittee has been able to accumulate. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list for the year 1960. It represents the best efforts of the subcommittee members. Unlike other Annual References, the 1960 list has been formulated in five parts based generally on regions of the world and in one case, on language basis as shown below: Part A.—United States. Part B.—Englandand other English-Speaking Countries. Part C.—Western European Countries. Part D.—Eastern European Countries. Part E.—Asia and Far Eastern Countries. The references in each part are arranged alphabetically by principal author; each reference is numbered. The information in each listing contains the authors, the title of the article or report, complete information on the reference source, when available, a brief abstract of the article, and detailed subject index. This section is laid out so that those who wish can still mount the references on file cards.
