16-25-6 Alloy


The 16-25-6 alloy with its 16 per cent chromium is normally used up to about 1350 F. In developing this alloy 6 per cent of molybdenum was used to increase its high-temperature strength. With these amounts of chromium and molybdenum, 25 per cent nickel was required to produce a wholly austenitic alloy. Approximately 0.15 per cent nitrogen was intentionally added to further increase the high-temperature strength and to assist in stabilizing the austenite.
