Quality Control for Lumber Products

This paper describes procedures used during manufacture to control the quality of dimension and finish lumber, end- and edge-glued lumber, water-repellent-treated wood products, prime painted products, and laminated beams. A test method is outlined for comparing the extractive stain resistance of paints applied to cedar or redwood siding. A novel method is described for ascertaining the degree of sticking or blocking that will occur during shipment of factory-painted lumber.
