Preparation and Testing of NOL Rings from Preimpregnated Rovings

Source

Most of the original work on filament winding was concerned with wet layup. Now that there is a great tendency to switch to preimpregnated roving the need for adequate test methods has become even greater. The standard method for preparing NOL rings from preimpregnated roving has caused many problems. These problems can be solved by using the cut cylinder method as described in this report. We are currently using this method not only because of its greater accuracy but because ring preparation is greatly simplified. Test results obtained from molded and from cut specimens are compared.
