The Damping Capacity of Some Granular Soils

Source

A modified triaxial compression apparatus has been used to determine the the hysteresis loop in the stress-strain curve during forced cycling of several granular soil samples. The effects of static triaxial stresses, magnitude and frequency of the uniaxial cycling stresses on the chord modulus, the dissipated energy, and the damping capacity of the soil samples are shown.
