Tension Testing of Plastics

Source

It is quite evident from remarks made in many groups discussing the technical aspects of plastics, that there is not only a serious lack of understanding of the nature and limitations of tension test data on plastics but also a lack of awareness of the technical details that must be followed to obtain reliable results. It requires no particular technical competence to brush aside a set of tensile data, particularly when it contains some poorly obtained results, with the remark “What do tensile data mean anyway?”. Reliable tensile data properly analyzed do have meaning and can be used to advantage by those who are willing to give serious study to such a mundane subject.
