Effect of Material Composition in High-Temperature Water Corrosion

Source

In order to construct high-temperature water systems operating with a maximum water purity and a minimum corrosion product contamination or chance of corrosion failure, the corrosion characteristics of a number of materials were studied under a variety of conditions. It was found that the corrosion behavior of these materials was dependent upon their composition and, to a certain extent, upon the conditions under which they were tested. This paper, therefore, deals with material composition and its relation to corrosion resistance. The influence of water composition on corrosion is covered in other papers (1, 2) of this symposium.
