Resistivity Reconnaissance

Source

During the past quarter-century, methods of resistivity exploration have been studied theoretically and applied to a wide variety of practical problems. An attempt is made to collect important aspects and refer to sources from which the reader may acquire additional information. The experiences and aims of the engineers have guided the choice of materials, but the specific inclusions are the author’s personal choices.

Resistivity measurements require specialized precision equipment, which must be portable, at least for many components. Interpretation of measurements requires judgment, experience, and familiarity with theoretical considerations. Although resistivity surveys furnish valuable information, resistivity methods must be used with an awareness of their pitfalls as well as of their possibilities.
