Accelerated Tests As a Method of Predicting Service Corrosion of Exterior Automotive Trim

Source

A wide variety of accelerated, or short term, tests are conducted daily upon a host of different materials in an attempt to predict the behavior of the material in service or to evaluate the relative merits of material modifications or changes. They are also used for control purposes to insure product quality as well as for identification. It would be extremely time consuming and unprofitable to attempt to list them all or even those which might be considered as major tests. The American Society for Testing and Materials alone publishes 11 large volumes on test methods. Other national societies, government agencies and private industry publish still others.
