Techniques for Studying Structure and Growth of Tin Oxide by Electron Microscopy

Source

Techniques for investigating the structure of oxide films on pure tin by means of electron microscopy are described. Transmission electron microscopy of tin oxide films isolated from the tin substrate was used to reveal details of nucleation and growth of the oxide crystals. The additional information derived from the physical examination of the oxides has proved invaluable in the interpretation of kinetic data on the oxidation process.
