A Standard Test Method for Initial Efficiency Measurements on Flatsheet Filter Media

Source

Reproducible initial efficiency measurements on flat sheet filter media in air, require well controlled test aerosols for particle count and particle size resolution. This Test Standard drafted by ASTM F21.20 Subcommittee on Gas Filtration utilized the atomization of monodispersed latex spheres and particle counting by Optical Particle Counters to measure the initial, particle size efficiencies of flatsheet filter media. A test system and procedure is defined that can provide a ±1% reproducibility on initial penetration in the particle size range of 0.5 to 5 μm at a 95% confidence level.
