Survey of Radiation Techniques

This paper deals with the utilization of radiation in the field of nondestructive testing. One of these applications—industrial radiography—in use for inspection at plant level during the first World War, grew rapidly during the 1920's, and reached a recognized position by management during the second World War. Since World War II, the use of radiation has become essential in the field of nuclear energy. It is logical, therefore, to discuss in fundamental terms the characteristics of radiation and how they can be put to work in the field of nondestructive testing.
