Chapter VI—Analysis of Industrial Water

Source

Industrial water always contains dissolved matter, the character and quantity of which depend on environmental conditions. The precise determination of all dissolved constituents in water is seldom necessary, and the completeness of the analysis required on a given sample is determined by the use that will be made of the results. Thus, an indication of constancy in a uniform supply of water may often be obtained by approximating the concentration of a single constituent. On the other hand, careful determination of a score of constituents and properties may be necessary on a new supply.
