Postirradiation Oxidation and Molecular Weight Changes in Polystyrene and Poly(Methyl Methacrylate)

Source

The presence of reactive species in solid polymers after irradiation has been demonstrated over the past several years by various experimental techniques. Several investigations have shown that irradiated polymers have the ability to initiate polymerization in common monomers. Wall and Brown (1) supplemented such findings on poly(methyl methacrylate) by measuring the depolymerization produced by heating irradiated specimens of this material.
