Experience with Pozzolanic Materials in Kansas

Serious cement-aggregate reaction betwen certain cements and the “sand gravel” aggregate of the gravel producing streams of Kansas has caused the Engineering Experiment Station of Kansas State College, in cooperation with the Kansas State Highway Commission and the Portland Cement Association, to study various procedures to control or eliminate this reaction. The results of these studies have been partially reported by Scholer and Gibson (1), and Scholer (2), as well as by several unpublished progress reports during the several years the project has been under formal study.
