Kinetic Deformation Criteria of Cyclic Fracture at High Temperature

Source

A strain range partitioning method for the analysis of failure by the interaction of creep and fatigue is proposed. A conception is made of the onesided deformation (mean strain) to account for part of the creep damage; the time (and temperature) dependent behavior of the strain to failure is used to modify the common low-temperature low-cycle fatigue equations. Data from 18Cr, 8Ni stainless steel are used as a basis for demonstrating the method. A conventional linear damage summation technique is used for comparison with the results of the proposed method.
