The acceptance of lacquer as a finishing material by the automotive industry in 1923 signalled a tremendous growth in the use of lacquer in industry generally during the past twelve years. This increase in the use of lacquer as a finishing material was due both to the increased speed and lower costs with which finishing procedures could be carried out and to the highly satisfactory and serviceable quality of the finish obtained.
