New Developments in the Internal Bonding of Paper

Source

The ability of the natural cellulose fibers to bond to each other is responsible for the original existence of paper and has played a major role in papermaking down to the present time. Tensile strength and numerous other durability and stress resistance properties are directly dependent upon bonding. Such other properties as density, stiffness, porosity, and absorbency have a close relationship to bonding. It is inevitable, therefore, that the nature of this bonding should receive much attention from paper technologists.
