Design and Construction of an Inexpensive Multispecimen Slow Strain-Rate Machine

Source

The general considerations required in the design and construction of a slow strain-rate machine are discussed. A multispecimen machine built at the Ohio State University is illustrated, and the principal components used in this machine are listed. A four-specimen machine with a crosshead speed adjustable between 10-4 and 10-8 cm/s can be built for about $5000.00.
