Twenty Years' Development of ASTM Skiing Standards

Source

In 1972 the ASTM F8 Committee on Sports Equipment formed a task group to determine if a subcommittee on skiing standards should be formed. This group first met at Case Western Reserve University in April 1972. The task group evolved into Subcommittee F8.14 of ASTM F8. In 1982, ASTM Committee F27 on Skiing Safety was formed from F8.14. Since 1972 these ASTM committees have written 18 ASTM standards and participated in the development of standards written by the International Standards Committees (TC 83/SC3 and SC4). This paper presents the history and notes some of the people who were involved in these committees.
