Paint for Marine Environment

Paints exposed to a marine environment are subjected to some of the most severe conditions imposed upon coatings. Relatively thin films of paint are required to protect ships, buildings, piers, as well as numerous other structures from corrosion and fouling. In general, paints used in this environment are functional as compared with paints used for aesthetic purposes. Therefore, test procedures, for the most part, are conducted over a long period of time to achieve reasonably accurate results.
