Initial Studies on the Effects of Droplet Size and Electrostatics on Spray Deposition Efficiencies

Source

Equipment and instruments have been assembled and are being used to study the deposition of spray droplets on leaves. High-speed motion pictures show that a large portion of the droplets rebound from cabbage and lambsquarters leaves after the first impaction. To improve the deposition efficiency of sprays, we are continuing to study the effects of droplet size and velocity, electrostatic charge, and type and concentration of surfactant on the rebound of spray droplets from various types of leaf surfaces.
