Application of a Dynamic Leaching Test to Solidified Hazardous Wastes

Source

A dynamic leaching test using a fixed leachant renewal schedule developed for testing nuclear waste forms was not found to be widely applicable to solidified hazardous wastes because of the large range of leachability encountered and because of limitations in the analytical detection of the chemical species in the leachate. The data generated could be interpreted using a simple diffusion model. The range of measured diffusivities, from 10−15.5 to 10−8.4 cm2/s, was covered by using a variable leachant renewal schedule. The precision associated with any single determination was approximately one order of magnitude.
