The Livermore Plan: Managing Transition in a Multi-Discipline Research and Development Environment

Source

Our experience indicates the Livermore Plan can be used as a low-cost way to manage transition in a job shop, engineering, designing, and fabricating environment, with the caution that good communication is needed during start-up with both your own shops and with vendors. The principal benefit of the Livermore Plan is that it allows engineering and design to get out of inches and into metric with minimum transition time. It places the measurement system interface during transition within fabrication where experience indicates it can be managed without significant cost or production penalty.
