An Industry View of Quality Assurance for Manual Source Sampling


Quality assurance programs for manual source sampling methods must provide for valid data while being easily followed and maintained. These programs must be realistic and manageable, while also being cost and manpower effective. It has been the experience of this industry that the most effective method for implementing quality assurance is the establishment of standard procedures which ensure that only proven accepted techniques are utilized for obtaining source samples. These procedures can follow the general guidance of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Quality Assurance Handbook, Volume III, but must minimize the paperwork generated by such programs.
