Behavior of Fillet Sealant Joints

Source

This paper investigates the behavior of fillet (triangular) sealant joints using tensile and cyclic tests and finite element analyses. Fillet sealant joints with diagonal bond breakers have greater movement capability and lower peak stresses than fillet sealant joints with flat bond breakers and than square and rectangular joints. Design of fillet joints with diagonal bond breakers should follow current rectangular joint design procedures, with the required bond breaker size based on the horizontal projected length of the concealed face of the joint.
