A Preliminary Investigation of the Biaxial Load-Strain Testing of Selected Roofing Sheet Materials

Source

The roofing industry has seen increasing efforts to move toward performance standards rather than prescriptive standards for roofing materials. In order to better understand the performance of the materials, testing should represent the material service environment as closely as possible. When in service, roofing materials are stressed biaxially. Therefore, load-strain testing to evaluate performance of roofing materials should be biaxial. Selected membrane sheet materials are tested, and the results reveal significant reductions in elongations to failure as well as failure strength.
