Insulating Oil Qualification and Acceptance Tests from a User's Perspective

To be acceptable, insulating oil must have several specific electrical, chemical, and physical attributes. Tests that demonstrate that the oil does indeed possess the desired characteristics are required. The tests specified by one utility are outlined in the paper with limits listed. Also described in the paper are insulating oil uses on a utility system. An attempt is made to relate oil use to each required test. The relative significance of each test is addressed.
