Development and Validation of a Laboratory Spray System Designed to Contaminate Fabrics with Pesticide Solutions

Source

A chamber designed to contaminate fabric samples by delivering controlled amounts of pesticide solution has been constructed. The pesticide solution is applied in spray from simulating droplets as found in actual field pesticide spraying of crops. This chamber provides a systematic method for evaluating barrier properties of fabrics under consideration for use in protective clothing for agricultural workers. The design and operation procedures are discussed in terms of its applicability as a standard test method for pesticide penetration of textiles and protective fabrics.
