Protective Clothing for Crop Consultants: Field Studies in Louisiana

Source

Factors affecting the level of foliar residue transfer of permethrin to the clothing of crop consultants working in aerially sprayed soybean fields were studied. Significant variation occurred by subject in the degree of exposure of specimens taken from specific locations on garments. Results indicated that ultra-low-volume oil spray techniques increase the level of residue transfer to clothing. Delayed entry is highly effective in reducing the degree of clothing contamination. Fiber content of fabrics worn into fields had some effect, but presence or absence of applied surface finishes had little or no effect.
