Particle Containing Formation Water for the Study of Erosion Corrosion

Source

Mass loss rates of a 13% chromium steel have been determined in particle-containing formation water using a loop with a constricted pipe as a test section. Erosion corrosion rates increase approximately with the square of the flow rate and linearly with the sand content. Under CO2-corrosion conditions, changes of the particle parameters (size, concentration) are much more significant than medium parameters (chloride content, temperature).
