Knee Sprains in Alpine Skiing: A Ten-Year Statistical Study

Source

The authors describe the results of a statistical survey of knee injuries occurring in Alpine skiing. The survey took place at a ski resort in central Italy. A clinical questionnaire that was specifically designed to collect data in a form that would lend itself to computerized processing was used. Several key factors, recorded at the time of the accident, which might have played a role in its occurrences, are taken into consideration. Knee injuries accounted for 29.3% of the total skiing injuries over the ten-year period. In this report only knee sprains (190 cases), representing 27.5% of total skiing injuries, were evaluated.
