Applications of Pulsed Photothermal Deflection Technique in the Study of Laser-Induced Damage in Optical Coatings

Source

Pulsed photothermal deflection technique (pulsed-PDT) is employed to make in-situ investigations of laser-induced damage in optical coatings. Preliminary experimental results show that the technique is capable of providing a lot of new information about not only the damage thresholds but also the damage processes, of which of particular interest are the transient damage behavior and the cumulative effect.
