Techniques and Applications of Two-Photon Spectroscopy of Inorganic Solids

Recent work on two-photon spectroscopy of transition metal ions and rare earth ions in crystals is reviewed. The technology of two-photon spectroscopy changes significantly from ultraviolet to visible to infrared, and the different methods for these regions are discussed with examples from the writer's laboratory.
