A Surface Crack Review: Elastic and Elastic-Plastic Behavior

The development and application of various analytical and computational procedures have provided important information regarding the crack-front fields, and associated cracking phenomena, in engineering structures typified by surface crack configurations. Major features of the formulation of several of these numerical approaches are discussed along with certain particular results which have been obtained by using them, with emphasis on surface crack applications.
