Design Considerations in Structural Sealant Glazing

The successful development and completion of a structural sealant glazed curtain wall system requires attention to detail, and in particular, to the adhesion of the structural sealant to various finishes and its compatibility with many materials. Control of adhesion and compatibility is attained by resolving necessary design considerations and by developing a quality assurance program, which is important to the successful fabrication and installation of these systems. A post-construction program should be established to monitor the continued integrity of the system.
